I’ve been producing and/or mixing songs and records for other artists & bands since cca 1986 (so I’ve seen my fair share of studios and recording technologies changing) – and of course I still do. As well as figuring out early stuff like preproduction & arrangements and helping out all along with tips & guidance from performance to promotion, I truly like to be in the studio, making music happen where once there was silence. I like to be around audio gear and work very hands on, mostly doing my own engineering, too. I own & run a mix room and a residential recording studio. In 1990 I was invited to do a radio show on new album releases, and from there on, frankly, things never stopped: I have invented, directed and hosted quite a number of TV and Radio shows, interviewed & met many GREAT artists, been in charge of liaisons with record companies, been in juries for music festivals & contests, even commented the damn Eurovision Song Contest (!!!) and given the TELEVISED national votes in it, and created Radio & TV jingles and come up with show concepts – all & always centered on music. Of course , everything started with being a musician, or rather a kid with a passion for music and an electric guitar at hand. I’ve written , recorded and released many songs, with my own band Idiogen back in the 80s, then with or for other artists I’ve had the pleasu re of producing & working with. So even though my guitar playing takes a back seat these days (and is mostly reserved for my time off or for doing some guest takes on someone’s record while we work at it), I still do write songs, and I still think you can never and moreover should never get rid of that fire. Because it’s this millennium, and because everybody seems to have an opinion and opinions seem to go well on video, and because I found some nice lights & camera clamps that unobtrusively fit my Trylobyte Mix Room, I’ve started doing a bit of YouTube, too. It’s called “F-Unfair Studio Time” (because sometimes this stuff is so fun it’s not even fair, and because it probably isn’t fair to use studio time for YouTube fun), and it’s about producing, mixing, guitar, audio gear, music facts & tips.
